Guidelines for Management of Research Malpractices

Article 1 (Purpose)

This guideline is a sub-standard of research ethics regulations established by the Korea Distribution Science Association (KODISA, hereinafter referred to as the Society), and aims to establish detailed standards necessary for securing research ethics in the entire editorial review process until papers received in all academic journals are published.

Article 2 (Types and Definitions of Research Malpractices)

1. Fabrication refers to the act of falsely creating data or research results that do not exist.

2. Falsification is a case of distorting research content or results that artificially manipulate research subjects, perspectives, and processes to arbitrarily transform and delete data.

3. Plagiarism refers to the act of using other people's ideas, research contents, and results as if they were their own without proper citation. Plagiarism is an inappropriate use case, which refers to copying others' belongings, weaving plagiarism, comprehensive use, and data plagiarism. In particular, plagiarism is also a case of unintentional plagiarism of other people's research The subjects of plagiarism include Words (language), Ideas, Findings, Writing, Graphic presentations, Computer programs, Diagrams, Graphs, Illustrations, Information, Lectures, Printed Materials, Electronic Materials, Any other original work.

Article 3 (Types and Standards of Double Publication)

1. One type of plagiarism is double posting or double posting or multiple posting and self-plagiarism. Examples of plagiarism include complete plagiarism (paste whole), direct plagiarism (partial pasting), self-plagiarism (non-use of undercapitalized papers), translation plagiarism (word or sentence structure modification), and practical copying (research methodology, tables, pictures, etc.).

2. The criteria for determining duplicate/multiple publication are as follows. In other words, if more than one journal is published, it is defined as a double publication. However, if a research report, a presentation thesis book, and a degree thesis are published, it shall be judged in accordance with Article 4 of the Guidelines. In particular, a Simultaneous submission is considered unethical research cheating if it is found to have posted the same paper simultaneously with another journal.

Article 4 (Scope of Papers Defined as Research Malpractice)

1. In the copy killer (e.g., extended similarity test provided by KCI and JAMS homepage), a plagiarism test program, the plagiarism rate exceeds 5% on a single sentence matching basis (excluding citations and source sentences and references). In addition, when a degree thesis, research report, or presentation thesis is submitted to a regular thesis book, the plagiarism rate should not exceed 10% on a copy killer basis, and in this case, the plagiarism standard is excluded only if the research report, degree thesis, and academic conference presentation are indicated.

2. The author's intentional raising of the citation figures for specific papers, researchers, and journals.

3. A paper that does not comply with the format of the manuscript submitted by the society's contribution regulations, or that reduces the effectiveness of plagiarism tests due to the presence of many translation and spelling errors

4. A thesis in which an unclear third party other than students and a supervisor is included as a co-author as the author of the thesis submitted by organizing the thesis. However, the exception is when the contributed thesis includes a number of different contents from the thesis and the contribution of the third author to the academic society.

5. A paper co-authored by a family (parent and child or couple). Exceptions are made if the family has a master's degree or higher related to the thesis topic

6. Papers written by citing research reports, dissertations, or academic conference presentations of others that are not related to their contributions

7. A paper that has published papers on the same or similar subject in multiple journals. However, exceptions are made when contributing to another academic journal or withdrawing a paper that has already.

8. A thesis in which the components of the thesis are very similar to those of previous studies, such as the title, research model, hypothesis, conceptual variables, tables and drawings, and research results. However, the exception is the case where all parts similar to previous studies are specified through citation and the differentiation and contribution of the contribution to the research are explained to the academic society

9. If it falls within the scope of research irregularities in Article 3 of KODISA's Research Ethics Regulations

Article 5 (Exceptional Conditions)

Exceptions are made if there are source and quotation marks for the following items:

1. In the case of publishing or publishing all or part of a dissertation as a separate work;

2. In the case of publishing or publishing all or part of the research service report as a separate paper or book;

3. If you have collected the published papers and published them in a book,

4. Where the author has obtained the consent of the author by publishing and publishing all or part of the same paper or book in the same or different language;

5. In case of publishing or publishing a short epistle paper of the academic journal after publishing it as a long paper;

6. Where a paper already published is edited and published in the form of an anthology or published as a special issue of a journal;

7. Where a published paper is easily published and published in a non-academic publication such as a liberal arts book or a public magazine;

Article 6 (Judgement Criteria)

1. Check and judge whether it is a simple mistake or intentional act

2. It is necessary to determine what the purpose or intention of the act is.

3. Determine how reckless the act is and whether it is the usual result of academia.

4. Determine how continuously and repeatedly.

Article 7 (Measures)

It is handled in accordance with Articles 10 and 12 of the Research Ethics Regulations.

Article 8 (Regular and Occasional inspection of Plagiarism)

1. Regular inspection: Conduct a regular plagiarism inspection through a consignment specialized institution before and after publication.

2. Frequent inspection: Plagiarism inspection is carried out at all times through entrusted specialized institutions for papers under review after posting and papers that have been published.

Article 9 (Effective Date)

This rule is implemented simultaneously with the research ethics regulations.

특히 타인의 연구에 대하여 의도치 않게 우연의 표절을 한 경우도 표절이다 표절의 대상은 Words (language), Ideas, Findings, Writings, Graphic representations, Computer programs, Diagrams, Graphs, Illustrations, Information, Lectures, Printed materials, Electronic materials, Any other original work등이 있다.
